Before I decided to start blogger, I actually created Tumblr
and thought that was better option cause it has mobile app so I get access anywhere... and could post and share on Tumblr from Instagram... But cant seem to find a theme I really like.
Blogger, on the other hand, has more themes and greater ability to customise. so far this theme that blogger suggested is the best imo (in my opinion).. There's a tab for all the pictures, a tab for a normal view of blog posts, and a mixture of both (magazine style). Maybe the design is not THAT fantastic, but tabs and features are great enough to win me over.
Also feel like since google took over/partners with blogger, there are more features like analytics, labels and location tags etc - the last time I used blogger was when I was 13 or 14? (7 or 8 years ago - gasp time flies).
And it's easier to post videos too. I think I've taken so many videos I need to share them. Insta keeps crashing when I try to post videos from my gopro :(
Feeling excited just thinking of sharing all my travel experiences. Hehehehe. All the travel experiences, especially these few years, are so memorable and I always look back with a smile :) I know for sure it will motivate any reader to travel and find the courage to do the things I've done :) And I hope all the mistakes I've made while travelling will make you more cautious the next time you make your travel plans!
That said, here's Queenstown (QZN), New Zealand! :)
Side track: Had a horrible experience when I travelled back to Singapore during my winter break the last time.
Booked a flight from Melbourne and was supposed to transit in Brisbane that morning. Went to airport happily nearly 3 hours before the flight (cause wanted to eat and shop at the airport) only to find out the flight got cancelled last minute. and if I took the next available flight, I would miss my connecting flight on Etihad Airlines from Brisbane back to SG. got a shock of my life and was almost on the verge of crying cause I didnt know what to do. If I were to book another international flight on the spot it would prob cost me twice the cost of......
After requesting if they could try to arrange an alternative flight for me, the check-in crew had to contact someone to ask if they could release seats for me on their partner airline. So they recommended that I go grab a coffee and come back again in an hour (swear that was the longest wait of my life. how to chill and drink coffee when I was panicking?!). but had to wait anyhow.. so one hour later, went back to counter and was asked to wait another hour... but thankfully this time, a guy also had the same issue.. felt so relieved cause at least I wasnt alone... and it also turned out that he worked in an airline company once, so he had contacts and asked the lady to contact some guy to request for seats :')
Another hour later, they gave us an option of taking a flight to Brisbane and taking Malaysia Airline (that was about 1 month or so after that missing flight, so we were worried) or fly the next day T.T (not cheap to take shuttle from city to airport k.... T.T) but thankfully, the guy asked if they could put us on Singapore Airline and the check-in lady fought for us to be on that flight. so story cut short, we eventually got a totally new itinerary at NO COST with transit at Sydney (more shops and facilities) and SIA A380 connecting flight. But they also mentioned that the SIA flight couldnt be confirmed until we arrive and check-in in Sydney... worried sick the whole flight from Melbourne to Sydney and rash to check-in in Sydney - but thank God all worked out well and it was secured.
Moral of the long story: NEVER TRANSIT LESS THAN AN HOUR. Recommend transiting about 3 hours.
- You never know if flights get delayed/cancelled (if your first flight is delayed, you wont be able to catch the next flight. and generally you need to pay for a new connecting flight if you miss it).
- Need to catch a connecting bus from domestic to international terminal that doesnt come that frequently.
- Terminals in Australia are mega huge, you need to run from one end to another if you have very limited time.
- Custom clearing takes damn long especially if you're a foreigner too - if you're well travelled enough you'll understand omg.
- You might also need to re-check-in your luggage (never assume/take for granted that the airline will put your luggage through to your connecting flight).
- And also, you might need to shop? ;)
Back to NZ.. Try to ask for window seats when you travel to NZ cause it's all about scenery! and it looks damn awesome from bird's eye view!!
Had my shuttle service booked on Viator cause it was cheaper than on Super Shuttle itself.
Super Shuttle picks up from airport and drops off directly in front of your accommodation - works like a taxi, just that price is fixed and not metered. so that was really good :)
Weather was pretty gloomy and cloudy :(
Stayed at Air Bnb (always book with them cause I love how affordable and gorgeous the place can look!) and booked an accommodation at Arthurs Point which was slightly further from the town/city - thought I get a better view of the scenery away from the town... apparently the town has an amazing view and I think I recommend just staying nearer to town cause pick ups for activities are mostly there.. so you save on the travel to the town and don't have to wake up that early to catch the infrequent bus service too..
That's Arthurs Point :)
Very beautiful place though, didnt regret staying here that much.
This was the accomm with the cute little trailer that I think the owner takes when they travel :) I didnt stay in this trailer..
Didnt bother taking pictures of the house cause it looked exactly like what I saw on the website! And also cause I wake up almost 7am to catch the bus every morning and come back late at night from the fully-packed itinerary..
Check them out here :)
The wifi at home was a definite plus point. apartment was so clean and bathroom was soooooo comfy :) hot bath after a long day of travel is always a good idea, hehehe.
Explored the town on the first day (for the rest of the day)
When I asked the locals where I should go, they all recommended this Patagonia Chocolates. Every. one. recommended. so I thought I had to try this for myself :)
Look at thattttt :O
Tried the ice cream that everyone was raving. and also had a chance to try their hot chocolate on a separate day since it seems like that was their specialty?
Another thing about QZN was that most shops have free wifi in the town.. so I guess even if you dont have internet at your accommodation, you can always have a coffee and spend half a day updating your social media. hehehehe.
The view of the town :O Not the nicest with the clouds - wait for the pictures on other days that will be coming up!!
Always look pale.. Since young, my teachers always get worried for me when I tell them I'm "sick" and they really believe every word I say cause I look always look pale.. HAHAHA (not sure if it's a good of bad thing). like if I'm late for school cause I over slept, sometimes i just tell them I had stomach cramps/gastric pains (I have these problems, but on some days, I lie about to get away from trouble. HAHAHA)
Craved for Asian food and guessed it was because I was quite home sick and upset about the gloomy weather. So hunted for Thai food to satisfy my tummy (I can have Thai food all day err day)
Favourite Cuisines:
1 & 2. Tie between Thai & Jap
3. Korean
4. Indonesian?
5. Mexican, Italian, Middle Eastern
The town is pretty quiet. But, this place. This place is where the crowd goes. The famous Ferg Burger.
Dont know why I took picture of this. I think YHA is pretty popular in the hostel industry and wanted to recommend? Also did some research on the hostel industry for my FYP in poly days and came across this before.
